Youth-Led Trainings

At The Mockingbird Society, youth impacted by foster care and homelessness are the experts. With support from our Youth Programs Department, the youth themselves facilitate trainings across Washington state that empower their peers and educate their communities. Our Youth Trainings give foster and homeless youth the knowledge, tools and confidence they need to overcome barriers and advocate for change. Our Community Trainings provide professional development opportunities for child welfare profesionals, policy-makers, and community members. These trainings are a window into the realities faced by those experiencing foster care and homelessness, giving attendees greater understanding, empathy, and most importantly, respect for youth in these situations.
