Art in Action
By Sierra Phillips
The time of year where we all make
resolutions for the new year.
Resolutions to lose weight,
Or maybe to save money.
What if we made a different type of
resolution?
One that’s to benefit others.
We could volunteer at a local
<p">homeless shelter
We Welcome Your Work
We welcome submissions of articles,
poetry, artwork, and photography
from our young readers who have
experience in the foster care system
and/or homelessness. If you want
to be, or have been, published in
the Mockingbird Times visit www.
mockingbirdsociety.org, call us at
(206) 407-2134 or email us at youth
Note: Incoming letters to the editor
and correspondence to youth under
18 years should be addressed to the
Mockingbird Times and will be opened
first by adult editorial staff.
Cook a meal
Donate some clothes that we don’t
wear anymore.
In 2016 we found that 11,643 people
were experiencing homelessness in
King County.
Maybe you want to get involved in a
non-profit in your area.
Pick up the phone and make a call.
Get involved today.
Don’t wait another year.
It’s not too late to make a resolution to
help foster youth and youth and young
adults experiencing homelessness.
