Save the Date for Mockingbird's Fall Fundraiser: Block Party Edition

EVENT DETAILS

WHEN: Thursday, October 10, 2024

WHERE: The Northwest African American Museum (2300 S Massachusetts St, Seattle, WA 98144) & Jimi Hendrix Park (2400 S Massachusetts St, Seattle, WA 98144)

Please join us in supporting The Mockingbird Society’s first annual Block Party & Festival-- shifting the model of our annual fundraising luncheon to a new community-centered celebration of Mockingbird’s mission to transform the foster care system and end youth homelessness. Free and open to the public, this event will center our young advocates and shared belief in Mockingbird’s work, while raising critical funds to support our cause. Young people, families, and community partners are all invited to enjoy live music, entertainment, games, and delicious refreshments from local food trucks. We are so excited to celebrate our ongoing commitment to cultivating a community of hope and invite your participation!

Admission to the event is FREE and open to the public. (Pre-registration is requested.)

If you register with a donation, we’d like to show our appreciation in the following ways:

  • Donations of ANY AMOUNT receive special access to guided tours of the Northwest African American Museum during the event.
  • Donations of $75+ receive the above, plus a credit to use at participating food trucks.
  • Donations of $250+ receive the above, plus an invitation to the After-Party & Champagne Toast.

Contributions will support The Mockingbird Society’s mission to elevate and empower young people with lived experience in foster care and/or homelessness so they can develop and advocate for upstream solutions that positively affect Washington foster care and youth homelessness support systems.

We are treating our young advocates and MOCKINGBIRD FAMILY™ families and children to food and drink at the event. If you would like to support that effort, kindly consider making an additional donation.

Last but not least, in the spirit of building community and supporting partners, a portion of your kind donations will benefit next year’s Celebrate 18! – a yearly birthday party for young women who have been in foster care or kinship care in Washington state. For ten years, local nonprofit Eileen & Callie’s Place has celebrated young women aging out of foster care with all the joy, love, and pampering they deserve. This is going to be so much fun, and there are lots of ways to get involved! Check out these opportunities:

Please join The Mockingbird Society staff and board of directors on Wednesday, August 28th to kick off our 2024 fundraiser with our closest friends, community partners, and young advocates. There will be conversation, refreshments, music, and merriment on the 3rd floor of the 2100 Building! Plus, we have an exciting new concept for our fall fundraiser up our sleeves—creating a special celebration centering those young advocates and families at the center of our work. We look forward to telling you all about it!
