Mockingbird Earns CityClub Award

In October, CityClub Seattle announced that The Mockingbird Societywas one of the six winners of their first annual Colleen Willoughby Youth Civic Education Awards!

This award is meant to highlight innovative efforts to encourage youth to become active citizens. At The Mockingbird Society, we believe that by giving youth and alumni of foster care the support and opportunity to make their voices heard, we create not only more dedicated citizens, but better policies and stronger communities as well.

This is not the first time our work has been recognized by CityClub Seattle. In 2011, The Mockingbird Society's founder and Executive Director Jim Theofelis was awarded the Washington State Jefferson Award, described by some as the Nobel Prize of public service. We are once again thrilled to be honored by this highly respected community partner.

The Mockingbird Society will be formally presented with the award on November 15th at the Inaugural Colleen Willoughby Youth Civic Education Awards at the Seattle ACT Theatre. The event is free and features Norm Rice, President and CEO of The Seattle Foundation, as the keynote speaker. We hope you will be able to join us in celebrating the work of The Mockingbird Society!
