Children's Administration Visits MFM Hub Home

CA Leadership hoping to expand use of the MFM

On April 28th, Jennifer Strus, Acting Assistant Secretary of Children's Administration (CA), visited a Mockingbird Family Model (MFM) Hub Home in Kirkland to meet with foster families involved in the innovative model. While there is plenty of data showing the positive impacts the MFM has on caregivers and foster children alike, it was truly remarkable to see the model come alive through the voices and experiences of the foster parents themselves. Through the model they have created a strong community of support in the interests of providing the best environment for the children and youth in their care.

Acting Assistant Secretary Jennifer Stus (middle) met with MFM foster parents to discuss the benefits of the model.

We continue to advocate for the expansion of MFM implementation, and our state leaders are listening. In addition to this site visit by CA's Leadership, the House budget proposal has included $250,000 in funds for training and technical assistance for new MFM Constellations in Washington state. We hope that this funding remains so that Children's Administration has the support they need to effectively implement this proven model for protecting the health, safety and well-being of our most vulnerable children and youth.
